Environmental Risk Assessment
Environmental Risk Assessments (ERA) for Plant Protection Products, Biocides, Veterinary Medicines, Human Pharmaceuticals and General Chemicals are conducted in a tiered approach ranging from lower-tiers (standardised, worst-case scenarios) to higher-tiers (more realistic and specific to required regions/conditions). CEA are especially skilled in higher-tier ERA, providing cost-effective solutions for regulatory issues. We are effective at characterising the components of risk (exposure and effects parameters) and in developing risk refinement strategies taking into account realistic use scenarios .
Our environmental fate experts provide in-depth exposure assessments using industry standard approaches including the FOCUS suite of models, GREAT-ER, EUSES, USES, Simple Treat and VetCalc, and design and conduct field studies to collect new data to address issues of drift, drainage, leaching and run-off. Our ecotoxicology experts are experienced in the assessment of exposure of non-target organisms from aquatic insects to birds to chemicals and in reinterpretation of effects data for all compartments. In addition, we offer field-scale data collection in the form of aquatic mesocosm studies and terrestrial exposure and effects studies. |
