Dave Arnold is an expert in the risk assessment of chemicals in the environment. He has extensive experience of the fate and ecotoxicology of pesticides from 30 years in regulatory science in the agrochemical industry: Shell, ICI, Schering, AgrEvo and Aventis. He has been a key figure in the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC Europe President in 2002) and the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA). He was a member of the organising committee of the SETAC/OECD Workshop on Higher-Tier Aquatic Risk Assessment for Pesticides (HARAP) and was the former ECPA representative on the FOCUS Steering Committee and Med-Rice Work Group. Currently he is a member of the UK Veterinary Products Committee (VPC) and chair of the SETAC Global Awards Committee.
Naomi is an expert aquatic ecotoxicologist, considering potential effects of chemicals on natural communities using novel experimental methods and statistical techniques. Previous work has included the assessment of the effects of chemicals on communities in outdoor mesocosms and indoor microcosms and single-species tests with indigenous macroinvertebrates. Naomi has practical experience of statistical interpretation methods such as Principal Response Curves and Species Sensitivity Distributions.
